born IN ISOLATION. Fast, focused, fierce: The midas model
Midas is lean by design. We’ve stripped away the things that waste time - bloated meetings, endless hierarchies, disconnected roles and built a workflow that puts artists and problem-solving at the centre. We’ve delivered thousands of final shots on major productions with a small, focused team by cutting the fat, not the quality. That means fewer bottlenecks and more creative ownership.
Midas began with Marc Hutchings leading a group of talented artists isolated from other Soho visual effects houses, striving to prove themselves with a small team and limited resources they found a camaraderie and a way of working that was naturally the most efficient. The separation gave them the space to build something different. Not caught up in what everyone else was doing. They had room to rethink what really mattered, and how to get it done better and found like minded team members who could adapt to this way of working.
In 2020 those core members became Midas. This allowed us to finally have full control to explore exactly how we wanted to work. Adding key members to the team with the same philosophy as we’ve grown.
That independent spirit still shapes everything we do. We’ve grown, worked on global productions, and scaled to meet serious demand but we’ve never lost that sense of focus and never stopped evolving.
At Midas artists don’t just tick boxes they take ownership. From start to finish, you’re expected and trusted to figure things out, push things forward, and make the work better. This isn’t a studio of cogs in a machine it’s one where you collaborate, contribute, and help solve the shot.
We are proud to have high standards and pushing each other to achieve them. Our culture is not about ego. It’s about doing the work well and doing it together.
If that sounds like the kind of studio you’ve been looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
